Curves History

Curves is one the largest chain of fitness clubs for women in the world. We are famous for our 30minute circuit that works every major muscle group with strength training, cardiovascular training and stretching, and that always has a coach to help members with proper form, to answer questions and offer encouragement.

Founders Gary and Diane Heavin, committed veterans of the fitness and advertising industries, are considered the innovators of the express fitness phenomenon that has made exercise available to more than 4 million women worldwide. They share a passion for and commitment to women’s health and fitness.

The Heavins opened the first Curves in 1992 in Harlingen, Texas. Their innovative, 30minute fitness concept combined strength training and sustained cardiovascular activity through safe and effective hydraulic resistance.

There are two main reasons for Curves’ success. First, our practical and effective approach to women’s diet and fitness that works with the modern woman’s busy schedule. And second, our supportive club environment.

We invite women of all shapes, sizes and ages to lose weight, become stronger and reach their health goals at Curves. We are committed to providing women with the tools that will empower them to live more fulfilling lives.

From the beginning, Curves was designed to be different from any other fitness centre or gym. For more than 20 years we have been helping women transform their lives and we will continue this mission with exciting, effective programmes that answer the needs of our members. We know you’ll love what you find when you workout at Curves. Come see the difference Curves can do for you.
